Alan Shaw (taught maths) moved to Clitheroe after leaving Augustine's and his wife and son still live there. I rock climbed and mountaineered with him for many years, into the early eighties. Alan suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage in 91/92? (can't remember exactly when) while skiing in the Alps, which left him totally paralysed except for his eyes. He died about six months later.
