There's no doubt that even when Salford (sorry, I mean Manchester) United had Best, Charlton, Law etc. City were by far the most successful of the 2 teams.
Unfortunately, the reds still got all the media attention. OK so they became the first English side to win the European Cup. But it was another 9 years before they won anything else.
And yet their fan base in Manchester at that time was bigger than ours.In primary school at Games we had to bring our own kits. I was one of only three lads out of 2 classes who had a blue strip. All the others had these horrible red things on.And yet now, it's the other way around. Most kids in South Manchester and Stockport walk round in city shirts; very few in united.Yet (although I feel ill saying this) the reds have the more successful side for the moment
