This seems to be turning into our private message board! Is there no other ex-SA with a view on the rivalry between the Reds & Blues???

What I said was that football was NOT in fashion as it is now but it was certainly the in-thing in at school. The rivalry between the fans at the time was vey real as anyone who attend a derby match can bear witness.

The mini derbies at SA and Sacred Heart (before SA)were great to play in and the result almost as important as the real thing. The sad fact was that like the real thing at the time, the best players at school happened to be Blues and us Reds generally suffered the same fate as the professionals.

My main contention is to rebuke the false premise that Blues have that the majority of Mancunians support City. It was not true then and it is not true now.

The sad fact is that Blues regardes beating United as the pinnacle of their season then and still do. For United fans it is winning trophies. This is the principle reason why City will always remain the second team in Manchester.
