When I arrived at the start of the seventies the school seemed huge. Now I look back and only the characters seem huge. Happy days boys.

I loved my time at St Augustine's. Jim McCabe, Dennis Howells and every one of the staff, remember the 'green room', I enjoyed all the staff, especially those who couldn't use the strap in said room. Still friends with a number of people I went that school with and university. Raggedy lad from Wythenshawe who was 'thick' according to his man done good at St Aug's

No one is likely to remember me as I was part of the staff for one school year only as a French Assistant in 1970. I still picture in my mind 's eye the faces of a few of the teachers at that time and Father Mc Guiness as
the Headmaster of St Augustine's. As for the students, they're now just an anonymous crowd of uniformed kids. Afterwards,
I became a teacher of English Language in Clermont Ferrand and have now been retired for fourteen years but have never forgotten those days .
All the best to those who read these lines and those who, by any chance, would happen to remember me.

I love dipping into this site from time to time - the photos look so archaic, but then again, they are from half a century ago! So sad there are so few images, and just wish I had some to share!
